EMPAC

Do you want to be involved in political activities?  There are several ways:

  1. Donate to SEANC EMPAC.  Each month you can donate through payroll or retirement check deduction and/or annual or mail donations.  SEANC’s goal is to become the #1 PAC in NC.  We can achieve this goal by members donating just $2.00 a month.  The money that is raised will go to support candidates who have been interviewed by SEANC members and have expressed support on issues related to active and retired state employees.  To donate to EMPAC, please fill out the EMPAC donation form and mail it to SEANC headquarters or enroll for payroll deduction at http://www.seanc.org/empac/payroll.aspx

  2. Get involved.  Every election cycle there is a need for SEANC members to serve on interview teams and to work with endorsed campaigns.  During an election year, Area 10 EMPAC will vote on which races to target and then invite every candidate running for those races the opportunity to be interviewed for possible endorsement by SEANC.  This is an open process.  Each candidate in a particular race is asked the same questions by the same interview team.  Interview teams are made up of five SEANC members who have been trained on the interview process.  The interviews are open to any SEANC member.  While every candidate needs money and votes they also need volunteers to help with mailings, canvassing door-to-door, making phone calls, hosting candidate meet and greets, word of mouth campaigning and working at polling sites for early voting and on election day.  You can volunteer to work with any campaign.  Contact Danny Rose for more information.

  3. Vote.  It is important for you to vote and encourage your co-workers to vote.  The SEANC endorsement process provides you with the knowledge that endorsed candidates are supportive of active and retired state employee issues.

  4. Contact your legislator.  After the election is over it is still important for your representative and senator to hear from you about any support or opposition you have on any bills.  Their vote has an effect on your pay, retirement, healthcare and other benefits.  It is important for you to speak out and have your representative and senator be accountable.  Just because they promised to support our issues during a campaign does not always mean they will vote for our issues.  By calling, emailing, writing or meeting with your representative and senator you put a real face with an issue.  To look up your representative and senator visit http://www.ncleg.net/GIS/RandR07/Home.html.

  5. Take action.  Each year SEANC has a couple of Lobby Days when the General Assembly is in session.  The dates will be posted on the SEANC and District 47 Web sites.  Come and join other SEANC members from across the state to meet with legislators and discuss current issues with legislative members.  When they are not in session, take time to meet with them in their district office.

District 47 is apart of SEANC AREA 10 EMPAC.  Your district representatives on AREA 10 are Danny Rose (Dist. 47 EMPAC Chair), Doranna Anderson (Dist. 47 Chair) Ann France (Dist. 47 Member-at-Large for AREA 10) and Kathy Cope (Dist. 47 Member-at-Large for AREA 10.  To keep up to date on AREA 10 EMPAC activities, visit the AREA 10 Bulletin Board.
